Description
- Manage a caseload of complex civil litigation matters from inception through resolution, including insurance defense, premises liability, transportation, construction defect, personal injury, and commercial litigation matters.
- Develop and execute litigation strategies, including drafting pleadings, motions, discovery and dispositive motions, while ensuring compliance with all court deadlines and procedural requirements.
- Conduct and defend depositions of parties, fact witnesses, corporate representatives, and expert witnesses.
- Represent clients at hearings, mediations, arbitrations, settlement conferences, and trials in state and federal courts.
- Prepare cases for trial, including witness preparation, exhibit management, motion practice, jury selection, and courtroom presentation.
- Evaluate liability, damages, and litigation exposure; provide timely reporting and strategic recommendations to clients and insurance carriers.
- Negotiate favorable settlements while balancing litigation risk, business objectives, and client expectations.
- Collaborate with partners, associates, experts, and support staff to deliver high-quality legal representation and exceptional client service.
- Maintain accurate billing practices and meet firm expectations for productivity, responsiveness, and client communication.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, insurance carriers, claims professionals, and industry partners.
Requirements
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
- Active license and good standing with the State Bar of Texas.
- Minimum of 5-10 years of civil litigation experience, preferably focused on insurance defense, transportation, premises liability, construction defect, personal injury, or commercial litigation.
- Demonstrated first-chair or significant second-chair trial experience.
- Extensive experience taking and defending depositions, including expert witnesses, corporate representatives, and fact witnesses.
- Experience handling mediations, settlement conferences, and alternative dispute resolution proceedings.
- Proven ability to independently manage a litigation docket from initial assignment through trial or settlement.
- Strong motion practice experience, including drafting and arguing dispositive motions, motions to compel, and other substantive motions.
- Experience preparing detailed litigation assessments, case evaluations, and reporting to insurance carriers and corporate clients.
- Exceptional legal research, negotiation, and written advocacy skills.
- Strong courtroom presence and oral advocacy abilities.
- Experience with Texas state courts; federal court experience preferred.
- Ability to effectively manage competing deadlines and a high-volume caseload in a fast-paced litigation environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, legal research platforms, document management systems, and electronic filing systems.
